Our Curriculum

At IQ Buds Play school our curriculum is based on the idea that each child is a unique individual. Our focus is on meeting each child’s developmental, social, emotional, intellectual, and educational needs. We provide developmentally appropriate programs that focus on the process of learning and help children enjoy successful experiences.

Classrooms are arranged to offer challenging play and learning choices at a wide range of developmental levels. Learning centers allow children the opportunity to explore, problem-solve, investigate, work together as a team, and meet with success. Children are exposed to whole group work, small groups, and individual instruction each day.

Our thematic-based curriculum focuses on reading, writing, language, math, science, social studies, art, music, and physical fitness activities. Teachers and administrators spend time listening to and talking with children, helping kids reflect on their daily learning. The positive interactions between teachers and students encourage the development of emotional, linguistic, and social skills, leading to a strong sense of self and self-esteem. With a range of child-centered activities and a warm, safe, and nurturing environment, children have every opportunity to have fun while learning.

We celebrate the cultural diversity of IQ Buds Play school children and families, and we encourage multicultural learning through respect, understanding, and appreciation.

IQ Buds Play school focus on:

  • Social and emotional development to foster a child's sense of self, enhance his or her ability to make friends, and create openness to learning.
  • Physical development to strengthen large and small muscles, coordinate movement, and improve overall health and growth.
  • Creative expression and aesthetic development to foster a child's appreciation for the arts music, movement, dramatic play, and visual arts.
  • Cognitive development to promote intellectual growth and school success. When children use their language, literacy, mathematical and scientific thinking, and social studies cognitive skills to think, problem solve, and communicate, they are making sense of their world.

Six areas which provide holistic development:

Language and literacy

Children develop strong listening, speaking, reading and writing skills when given the opportunity to interact with adults and peers. Our children are encouraged to participate in class discussions and learn to do public speaking via show and tell sessions. They will also have the opportunity to develop good writing skills Eg, writing a birthday card for their fellow class mates. Our goal is to develop our children to be confident and effective communicators in life.

Numeracy

Children acquire numeracy concepts and skills through the use of concrete materials, pictures and symbols. For example, through sorting shapes, weighing fruits. Ordering objects from big to small, playing matching pictures game, telling time and counting money. This would enhance the children's school readiness and prepare them for more advanced numeracy concepts in primary school.

Discovery of the world

Our children are encouraged to observe and talk about the living things, non-living things, places and events around them. We will have termly fieldtrips (Eg visit to the zoo, park, neighborhood walk, etc) and lessons about their bodies, animals, plants and properties of materials. Children will be able to widen their knowledge, acquire the essential skills and understanding to make sense of the world around them through such activities. This helps to sustain children's curiosity to explore the world and lays the foundation for learning in geography, history and science in the future.

Motor skill development

At IQ Buds Play School, we will have 2 to 3 days of planned outdoor activities in a week where children acquire and practice their locomotor skills (eg, running, jumping and skipping) and manipulative skills (eg, throwing, catching and kicking). During writing and art activities, our children will develop their fine motor skills such as tearing, cutting, folding as well as using the drawing and writing tools to develop fine motor control. By finding joy in movement, it lays the foundation for them to continue to be more active and more inclined to incorporate regular physical activities later on in life; as well as perform different functions that requires body coordination effectively.

Aesthetics and creative expression

Our children are encouraged to express and represent their ideas, experiences and feelings through drawing, painting, making crafts and sculptures. They will experiment a variety of media, tools and techniques to create their artwork like chalk drawing, origami and clay modeling. Children will also have daily opportunities to sing songs and recite rhymes. There will be music and movement activities twice a week where they explore elements of music with voice, body movements and musical instruments like triangles and tambourines.

Self and emotional development

Children will learn how to relate with one another, and work cooperatively in small groups during classroom activities and routine. Activities about self, family and community provide opportunities for children to share their likes and dislikes, talk about their feelings, abilities and uniqueness. Eventually, they will be able to build positive relationships with others and take responsibility for their actions.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Art Class

This art-based class is dedicated to hands-on creative experiences and artistic expression. The program exposes children to a variety of materials and mediums, allowing them to make connections to the world around them through visual references: color, shape, size, pattern, line, composition. Children have the opportunity to explore while making meaning.

In the Art workshop children will be able to:

  • Explore their creativity
  • Use critical thinking
  • Demonstrate individuality
  • Build their self-esteem
  • Enhance fine motor skills
  • Have fun with new friends

Dance Class

The fusion of art, music, exercise, and movement makes our children to develop fine and gross motor skills while having fun physically. Children learn songs, stories, and creative movements while practicing body control, safety, participation, and cooperation. These classes will help children to appreciate a love for dancing at a young age.

Sand pit

Most kids love sand, so it's a great gathering place for socialization. During this social time, kids are learning to share, communicate, be creative, and witness other children being creative. Playing in sand is soothing and entertaining for children.

Sand play can be the perfect opportunity to further the development of the minds and bodies of children. No matter the age or development level of the child, sand offers an opportunity to explore and experiment in a safe and inviting environment. From stretching the imagination to teaching mathematical and scientific concepts, playing in the sand enhances the imaginations and social skills of children

There is no right way to use sand. It invites participation; it permits children to make and test hypotheses; it stretches the imagination; it provides a potentially soothing sensory experience; and it is an excellent avenue for children to learn physical, cognitive, and social skills.

Because sand play is open-ended, the child determines the direction and path of his or her own play. This freedom then clears the way for the child to build developmental concepts.

Play Pane

Playing in Slide and Splash Pool are a great way for children to stay active while enjoying the outdoors.

Playground equipment help children develop physical coordination, strength, and flexibility, as well as providing recreation and enjoyment.

Puppet Show

Puppet Theater is one approach to the process of education which enables children learning through play. The puppet is by nature a visual art which has the ability to educate and entertain any age group and people at different levels of literacy.
